Salve sections and blocks

This reference lists every section and theme block in Salve, with each setting as it appears in the theme editor. Settings that you set once for the whole store are in the theme settings reference.

A few things apply almost everywhere:

• Color scheme picks one of the color schemes you set in theme settings under Colors.
• Top padding and Bottom padding set the space inside the section. The space is reduced on small screens.
• Heading level sets the HTML heading level for screen readers and search engines. It doesn't change the size. Most sections use H2.
• Block spacing on blocks adds space above and below the block.
• Health blocks show nothing when the product has no data for them, so a product with no health data still looks clean.

Header and footer

These sections live in the header and footer groups, so they appear on every page. Edit them from any page in the theme editor.

Safety notice bar

A site-wide bar for recalls and field safety notices. It sits above everything else in the header. Turn it on only when you have a notice to publish. See Documents and safety notices.

Announcement bar

A slim bar with up to three announcements. Shoppers move between announcements with previous and next buttons; they never rotate on their own. The bar can also hold the country and language selectors and the text size control.

Home page and content sections

Add these sections to the home page and to most other templates. Each has its own color scheme and top and bottom padding.

Hero

The opening section of the home page, with an image or video and up to seven blocks (headings, text, buttons and icons with text).

Product selector

A guided finder that sends shoppers to a filtered collection. See Product selector and filters.

A guided finder. Each question maps its answers to filter parameters so shoppers land on the collection with those filters applied. Filters must be enabled for the collection in the Search and Discovery app.

One answer per line: label, a vertical bar, then the filter parameter, for example "High | filter.p.m.health.exudate_level=High". Copy the parameter from the collection URL after applying the filter. A line with no parameter ("Not sure |") adds no filter.

Sections that work in the background

Some sections have no settings. The theme uses them to update parts of the page without a full reload: the cart drawer, cart icon, compare tray, comparison data, pickup availability, predictive search and quick add. You don't need to add or edit them.
