Salve HSA and FSA display
Salve can show which products are eligible for a health savings account (HSA) or flexible spending account (FSA). It only displays eligibility that you set. It doesn't decide eligibility, and it doesn't process HSA or FSA payments.
Your responsibility
- You decide which products to mark as eligible. Check eligibility rules before you tag a product, and review your tags when rules or products change.
- Accepting HSA or FSA cards, or providing documents for reimbursement, depends on your payment provider or a separate app. Setting that up is up to you. Salve doesn't add a payment method.
- Eligibility also depends on each shopper's plan. Keep the disclosure text so shoppers know to check with their plan administrator.
Turn HSA/FSA display on or off
Go to theme settings and open HSA and FSA. Show HSA/FSA eligibility turns every HSA/FSA feature on or off. It's on in the Salve and Gauge presets and off in the Remedy preset.

Tag eligible products
- In your Shopify admin, open a product.
- In Tags, add the eligibility tag. By default, that's
hsa-fsa-eligible. - Save the product.
To tag many products, select them in the Products list and choose Add tags. The tag must match the Eligibility tag setting exactly, apart from capital letters.
Where eligibility shows

The cart summary adds up the line totals of eligible items. It's for information only. The amount a shopper can pay or claim with an HSA or FSA may differ.
Add the filter shortcut
The pinned toggle uses Shopify's tag filter. To make it appear:
- Install or open the Shopify Search & Discovery app.
- Go to Filters and add a Tag filter.
- Make sure at least one product in the collection has the eligibility tag.
When the tag filter includes your eligibility tag, the Product grid section shows the toggle before the other filters.
Build an HSA/FSA information page
- Go to Online Store > Pages and create a page, for example "Shopping with HSA or FSA".
- Choose the
page.hsa-fsatheme template and save. - In theme settings, set HSA/FSA information page to this page.
- In the theme editor, open the page and edit the HSA/FSA explainer section.
The HSA/FSA explainer section has up to four steps, an optional collection of eligible products and the disclosure. It shows only when Show HSA/FSA eligibility is on. Keep the copy factual. Describe how shoppers can pay in your store, and say that eligibility is decided by each shopper's plan. Don't promise savings, tax benefits or reimbursement.
Tip: create an automated collection with the condition "Product tag is equal to hsa-fsa-eligible". Use it in the explainer section and in a Product list section on the same page.
